Flatten the Curve

Modern architecture and crisp, clean lines were the inspiration for this stunning high end swimming pool, landscape and hardscape project in Porter Ranch. Drawing on the modern architectural style of the home, our “talent pool” (pun intended) of designers created hardscaping features that perfectly align with the contemporary look of this house. The addition of a front walkway complete with clean lines and precise patterns on the stairs ensure the entryway matches the style of the rest of the house. Our design philosophy is that the curb appeal of the home should always look like it was part of the original architectural design. Drought tolerant landscaping and greenery enhance the contemporary theme.

In these photos it is hard to tell that this grass is actually a faux turf product. The faux turf we use is top quality with 4 different shades of green and cut at varying heights so it looks very realistic. It took us a long time to get onboard with faux turf, but we finally found a vendor that can deliver to our high standards.

Night lighting is such an important part of any landscape design.  Properly placed light fixtures can provide an element of safety and security, all while enhancing the look of the night scene.  A well lit garden can highlight the grandeur of the home while creating a welcoming, homey feel as guests approach.  We use top quality brass outdoor fixtures from local artisan manufacturer, Lightcraft Outdoor. Our clients appreciate the low maintenance of brass fixtures and inexpensive power bills as LED lighting bulbs barely sip any power.

We named this project “Flatten the Curve”, because the client was clear that they didn’t want a curvy pool yard, but rather a clean line design.  The scene in the backyard is modern with a contemporary pool design and a “less is more” attitude. The hardscape material selections keep in theme with the modern architecture of the home.  Trees and plants were added around the yard and pool area to soften the edges.  Sheer waterfalls add ambient sound and a visual show as they sparkle at night with the option of color changing led lights. Everybody enjoys spending hours in the pool sunning on the Baja shelf and listening to the soothing sounds of the water.

For relief from the sun, guests can move under the spacious “Loggia” patio cover that includes plenty of space for outdoor dining. Along with shaded seating, the patio cover houses a BBQ counter with modern, stainless steel tile, and our signature polished cast concrete and abalone shell counters. Guests are in for a treat when they’re served a meal cooked on the Sunstone BBQ equipment in the outdoor kitchen.

As the evening winds down, guests can gather around the custom fire feature which is actually a built in swim up bar table in the spa. Light from the flames will dance on the jellybean fire pit glass to create a magical feel as guests share stories and laughs to wrap up the night. In Porter Ranch, this backyard is the place to “Be Scene”!

We are flattered by the volume of requests for consultations we are currently receiving daily. It’s nice to be popular, but due to overwhelming demand we are currently accepting projects only in the brand-new construction neighborhoods in which we are actively working; Westcliffe Toll Brothers (Porter Ranch), Canyon Oaks & Encore Toll Brothers (Chatsworth), Hillcrest Toll Brothers (Porter Ranch), Deerlake Ranch (Crestley and Landsea homes in Chatsworth), and Sterling Hills Pulte Homes (West Hills).

Outside of new construction, we have a “Special Projects Consultation Wait List” for clients with unique high-end projects that don’t mind waiting a bit for us to catch up.
